چکیده

An important question in computational neuroscience is how to improve the efficacy of deep brain stimulation by extracting information from underlying connectivity structure. Recent studies also highlight relation structural and functional disorders such as Parkinson’s disease. Exploiting properties network, we identify nodes strong influence, which are potential targets for Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS). Simulating volume tissue activated, confirm that proposed reported optimal (sweet spots) be beneficial improvement motor symptoms. Furthermore, based on a modularity algorithm, network communities detected set with high-interconnectivity. This allows localise neural activity, directly topology. For this purpose, build large scale model consists following elements basal ganglia network: subthalamic nucleus (STN), globus pallidus (external internal parts) (GPe-GPi), extended striatum, thalamus cortex (MC) areas, integrating multimodal imaging data. We analyse dynamics under Healthy, Parkinsonian DBS conditions aim treatment. The define new partition (or segregation) brain, characterising treatment conditions.

O10: Deep Brain Stimulation and Psychiatry

The use of deep brain stimulation in psychiatric disorders has received great interest owing to the small risk of the operation, the reversible nature of the technique, and the possibility of optimizing treatment postoperatively. Currently deep brain stimulation in psychiatry is investigated for obsessive-compulsive disorder, Gilles de la Tourette’s syndrome and major depression. This presentat...

Network effects of deep brain stimulation.

The ability to differentially alter specific brain functions via deep brain stimulation (DBS) represents a monumental advance in clinical neuroscience, as well as within medicine as a whole. Despite the efficacy of DBS in the treatment of movement disorders, for which it is often the gold-standard therapy when medical management becomes inadequate, the mechanisms through which DBS in various br...

Deep Brain Stimulation Imposes Complex Informational Lesions

Deep brain stimulation (DBS) therapy has become an essential tool for treating a range of brain disorders. In the resting state, DBS is known to regularize spike activity in and downstream of the stimulated brain target, which in turn has been hypothesized to create informational lesions. Here, we specifically test this hypothesis using repetitive joint articulations in two non-human Primates w...
